Born in Wells Creek, Somerset County, son of Martin and Mary (Swain) Barchey. Preceded in death by parents, two sisters and two brothers. Survived by sister, Christina, at home; one nephew, Thomas Barchey, married to the former Linda Lavely, Hollsopple; one grand-niece, Christina Barchey, one grand-nephew, Robert Barchey; also several cousins. Very active member of Jerome Lutheran Church, where he served numerous terms on the church council, and taught the Men's Sunday School Class. Also member of Jerome Post 802 American Legion; and UMWA Local 998 Tire Hill. Army Veteran of World War II. Friends received from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, at the Hoffman Funeral Home, 227 Allegheny St., Boswell. Body will be transferred to Jerome Lutheran Church for viewing from 9 a.m. Thursday until time of service at 11 a.m., with the Revs. John W. Roth and George A. Clark officiating. Interment, Maple Springs Cemetery. Memorial contributions to St. Andrew's Lutheran Church Building Fund will be appreciated. Daily American, August 10, 1982 [B0370]
