Barclay, 91, of Woodcrest Circle, Scottdale (East Huntingdon Township), passed away Dec. 23, 2006, at his residence. Born March 24, 1915, in Somerset County, a son of the late H. Ed and Millie Shephard Barclay. He moved to Iron Bridge in 1938 and married Anna Schrock in October 1938. She passed away June 27, 1967. He married Mary Emma Shank in 1969 and was widowed again in 2002. He lived on George Street for many years prior to relocating to Woodcrest in February 2005. In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Beatrice Rhodes and Wilma Stevens; and two brothers, Paul and Milton Barclay. H.E. will be sadly missed by his devoted family - his six children, Rosalie Billheimer and husband Dale of Industry, Elaine Kaper and husband Ed of Scottdale, Herb Barclay and wife Donna of Mount Pleasant, Paul Barclay and wife Nancy of Scottdale, Blaine Barclay and wife Kim of Mount Pleasant, and Wayne Barclay and wife Lisa of Scottdale; 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and his late wife Mary Emma's family, Louise and Larry Reeser, Norma and Roger Oswald, and Betty and Monte Hughes. H.E. was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a graduate of Somerset High School with the class of 1933. Years ago, he farmed with his father at Iron Bridge and had a retail poultry route in Clairton and Glassport. He also owned and managed many rentals in Scottdale and Connellsville. He was self employed his entire life and maintained a good work ethic and attitude when working on a project for himself or someone else. He always said he "allowed" his children to work and encouraged them to enjoy work as well as some time for play. Living in a small town did not restrict his travels, as he had the opportunity to venture to Australia, Hawaii, Alaska, Nova Scotia, and 47 U.S. states. H.E. was a longtime and faithful member of the Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ in Scottdale where he served on Consistory as well as many committees. He walked to church until he was 89. He was a member of the Hall of Fame for the Scottdale Dartball League for his achievement of 1,500 hits. He served one term on the Scottdale Joint School Board, representing Upper Tyrone Township during the early 1960's and also served on the Scottdale YMCA, Boy Scouts, and S.C.C.I.A. board of directors. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m., Tuesday at the Robert B. Ferguson Funeral Home, 105 Spring St., Scottdale, (724-887-5300 / email: fergfh@verizon.net / GPS: N 40 degrees 06.136, W 79 degrees 35.278). Additional viewing will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., Wednesday in the Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, Chestnut Street, Scottdale, where a funeral service will take place 11 a.m., Wednesday. The Rev. Jeffrey A. Welsh officiating. Graveside committal service and interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Bullskin Township next to his first wife.
