Barilar, 78, 1012 Olympia St., Lititz, passed unto The Lord on Feb. 21, 2006, at Homestead Village in Lancaster. He is the husband of Doris L. Lape Barilar, with whom he was married for 51 years this past April. Born in Adrian, he is the son of the late John B. and Margaret Wardrip Barilar. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Marie Barilar. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, John A., married to Angela Barilar, Chestertown, Md.; and Bruce A., married to Karen Barilar, Lititz; one daughter, Aline L. DeBeky, Fort Lauderdale, Fla; three grandchildren, Austin, Jacqueline, and Larissa Barilar; two sisters, Lillias Boose, Cary, N.C.; and Marie Craig, Lansing, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews. Anthony had worked as a systems manager for North American Phillips for 12 years, retiring in 1992. Previous to this, he had worked for GTE in Williamsport and various locations throughout New York. A World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, he served as a sergeant, working in intelligence at the Pentagon. After his discharge, he served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves from 1947 to 1951. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lititz, and formerly a very active member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Williamsport. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, Anthony graduated with a bachelor's in economics and also his master's degree. While at Pittsburgh, he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. While living in Williamsport, he was a member of the Rotary Club and the Masonic Lodge. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service 11 a.m. March 3 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 West Orange St., Lititz. Friends will be received by his family following the memorial services. His family suggests, in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Drive, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125, or to a charity of one's choice.
