Born June 27, 1915 in Somerset, son of William Lohr and Rachel (Hay) Barkley. Preceded in death were his parents and 2 brothers, Eldon and Ralph Barkley. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruth E. (Soverns) Barkley; son Dwight David Barkley of St. Louis, daughter Mrs. Edward (Karen) Barkley-Rosenzweig of Bethlehem; 5 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, and 3 sisters, Fay Beckner, Ruth Barkley and Rev. Jean (Rev. Warren) Alnor, all of Somerset. A 1930 graduate of Somerset High School, at the age of 15. Retired as director of Research and Development at Liberty Mirror, Brackenridge, in 1981. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today (Monday), in the Ross. G. Walker Funeral Home. A Golden Rule Member, 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington.. Service will be held in the Bethesda Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3084 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell, at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Rev. Lawrence R. Camberg officiating.
