Born Jan. 9, 1913, in Berlin, daughter of Frank and Ada (Baer) Handwerk. Preceded in death by parents, husband, Ralph Franklin Barkley, sister, Mae Gray and brother, Norman Handwerk. Survived by these children: Arlene Beres of Lyndhurst, N.J., Nathan Barkley of Berlin, and Barry Barkley of Pittsgrove, N. J.; grandchildren: Timothy Curtin, Christopher and Edward Barkley, Jennifer Snavely, and Lori Uptegraph; and 4 great-grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing. Long-time member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Pine Hill, and later a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Berlin. Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin. Rev. Gene Abel officiating. Interment, Berlin I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
