Barkman, 71, of Berlin RD 1, died Feb. 12, 1987, at Mercy Hospital, Johnstown. Born Jan. 19, 1916, in Stonycreek Township, a son of the late George Russell and Estella Elizabeth (Tospon) Barkman. Preceded in death by sister, Leora Lehman. Survived by his wife of 48 years, the former Mary Louise Brant; and these children: Gene L. of Mechanicsburg; Hubert D. "Butch," married to Nancy Athey, Friedens RD 2; Mrs. Fred W. (Carol) Corbett, Shanksville; Mrs. Fred R. (Ilene) Kelly, Friedens RD 2; six grandchildren: Hugh Corbett, Bryan and Brett Barkman, Robert, Jacqueline and Matthew Kelly. Brother of: Mrs. Milton (Marie) Lowry, Friedens RD 2; Mrs. Harry (Elsie) Schuster, Stoystown; Mrs. Earl (Ruth) Fisher, Somerset RD 6; Harold R., Scottsdale, Ariz.; Mrs. Jay P. (Victoria) Walker, Berlin RD 3; Robert O., Baltimore, Md.; Edgar R. E. of Friedens RD 2. Long-time Stonycreek Township farmer. Member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Shanksville; F.O.E. Aerie, No. 1801, of Somerset; charter member of Potter County Rod and Gun Club. Member of Roxbury Sportsmen's Club, and past active member of Shanksville Fire Company. Friends received 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, where service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, the Rev. Patricia Ramsey officiating.
