Born Oct. 20, 1918 in Berlin. Daughter of Russell and Celia (Boyer) Brant. Preceded in death by parents, husband George Tospon Barkman, who died Feb. 12, 1987; brothers Ernest and Earl Brant and sister Martha Fisher. Survived by: Children, Gene L. Barkman of Somerset, Hubert D. "Butch," Barkman, married to the former Nancy Athey of Friedens, Mrs. Fred W. (Carol) Corbett of Shanksville, and Mrs. Fred R. (Ilene) Kelly of Friedens; six grandchildren, Hugh Corbett of Bakersville, Bryan Barkman of Maryland, Brett Barkman of Vandenberg AFB, Calif., Robert Kelly of Shanksville, Jacqueline Kelly of Friedens, and Matthew Kelly of Friedens, and four great-grandchildren, Courtnie, Shannon, Joshua and Samuel Barkman. Also two sisters, Mrs. Roy (Dorothy) Thomas of Somerset, and Mrs. Walter (Elsie) Ross of Durham, NC. Member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Shanksville. Former owner of Barkman's Antiques specializing in wooden maple sugar keelers. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home. Viewing also from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday the time of service at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Shanksville, with the Rev. Robert J. Way and Rev. Barry K. Ritenour officiating.
