  DR. SUSAN JANE BARKMAN
  
  Dr. Susan Jane Barkman, 52, Lafayette, died 3:50 a.m., Aug. 15, 2004, at her 
  residence. She was born April 26, 1952, in Somerset and resided in Somerset as 
  well as Baltimore, Md., before her move to Lafayette 22 years ago. Preceded in 
  death by mother, Alma Shaulis Barkman. She is survived by her father, Robert O. 
  Barkman, along with two sisters, Barbara (husband Harold) Ott, State College, 
  and Judy (husband, Leo) Bliley, North East; two brothers, Brad (wife, Jody) 
  Barkman, Boynton Beach, Fla. and Robert (wife Wanda) Barkman, Millers, Md. Also 
  survived by two nieces and five nephews. Dr. Barkman was a professor involved 
  with the 4-H Youth Development Department at Purdue University. She received her 
  B.S. degree from the University of Maryland, M.S. from the University of 
  Illinois and her Ph.D. from Indiana University. Dr. Barkman authored or co-
  authored 75 educational publications, six instructional slide sets, 15 
  instructional videotapes and has 53 refereed papers and published proceedings. 
  She held membership in many professional and scholarly societies, received the 
  National Extension Leadership Development Program award, the Excellence in 
  Program Evaluation award, along with many academic, professional and scholarly 
  societies. Burial will take place at Somerset County Memorial Park, Somerset. 
  Memorials may be made to the Indiana 4-H Youth Foundation or the National 4-H 
  Youth Foundation. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Somerset 
  County Memorial Park. The Rev. Roger Forry officiating. Local arrangements by 
  Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset.
