  BARNDT
  
    Robert Joseph Barndt, 62, of Listie Road, Friedens, died May 5, 2001 in
  Cassleman.  Born March 22, 1939 in Lincoln Twp., son of Ernest and Reba
  (O'Baker) Barndt.  Preceded in death by parents and brother Thomas. 
  Survived by his wife of 38 years, the former Deanna R. Uphouse and these
  children:  Carolyn, married to Larry Ponson of Livingston, La., Lisa of
  Friedens and Robert Jr. of Chicago, Ill.; granddaughters Alexis Oropallo
  and Destinee Ponson.  Brother of John, married to the former Catherine Pugh
  of Friedens; Ernest, married to the former Frances McCloskey of Eagle River,
  Alaska and Ada Perry of Arlington, Va.  Also survived by a sister-in-law,
  Shirley Whipkey Barndt of Friedens and numerous nieces and nephews.  A 1957
  graduate of Somerset Area High School.  Served in the U.S. Army.  Owner of
  Barndt Water Treatment Company and was a water conditioning expert for 37
  years.  Member of Stoystown American Legion, Somerset F.O.E. 1801, Wells
  Creek Watershed Association, Somerset County Builders Association and
  Somerset Wednesday Night Men's Bowling League.  He was an avid sportsman
  having hunted and fished several times in Alaska.  Family will receive
  friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Deaner Funeral Home,
  Stoystown, where service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday.  Rev. Charles
  F. Olsen officiating.  Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.   Memorial
  contributions may be given to the Wells Creek Watershed Association, 149
  Aust Dr., Friedens, Pa., 15541.
