Barner, 78, of Tayman Avenue, Somerset, died Dec. 14, 1978 at the Somerset Community Hospital. Born April 8, 1900 in Weisenberg Township, Lehigh County, Pa., a son of the late Frances and Lenora (Dietrick) Barner. Preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Survived by wife, the former Emily Strickler; a nephew, Paul Kunkle of Allentown; and a niece, Mrs. Eleanor Berger of Kutztown, Pa. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset; member and past president of the Somerset Rotary Club; member of James Cochron Lodge number 614 F&AM at Dawson, Pa.; Harrisburg Consistory; Jaffa Shrine; board member of the Somerset Library and the YMCA; and a school administrator for 47 years. Friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9 Friday at the Richard E. Hauger Funeral Home. Services will be held Saturday, 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Somerset with the Rev. H. James Meyers officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park. Body will lie in state at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Daily American, December 15, 1978 [B0458]
