    Nancy L. (Shaffer) Barnes, 53, 229 W. Union St., Somerset, formerly of
  Boswell and  Hooversville RD, died March 31, 1990, at Mercy Hospital
  Nursing Care Center, Johnstown.  Born Aug. 13, 1936, in Shade Township. 
  Daughter of Albert Guy and Ethel Marie (Johns) Shaffer.  Preceded in death
  by former husband, Samuel J. Sr., who died Jan. 1989.  Survived by parents,
  Hooversville RD 1, and these children: Stanley Oakes, married to the former
  Judith Brewer, Hooversville RD 1; Samuel J. Barnes, Jr., Ocean City, Md.; 
  Cpl. Loretta L. Ruiz, U.S. Army, Fort Knox, Kentucky; Spc. Susan D. Barnes,
  U.S. Army, Pittsburgh, and Rebecca A. Barnes, Somerset.  Three
  grandchildren: Billy John, Garrett, and Logan.  Sister of Fred, 
  Holidaysburg, and Wanda, wife of Larry Mitchell, Davidsville.  Member of
  Ridge Church of the Brethren, Hooversville RD.  Employee of Somerset Day
  Care Center.  Friends were received Sunday evening and will be received
  from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street,
  Boswell, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Rev. Brian N.
  Simmons.  Interment, Berkey Cemetery, Windber RD.
