Merle Barnett, 79, of Stoystown RD 2, died July 21, 1993, at Somerset Hospital. Born May 4, 1914 in Somerset Township, the son of William and Anna (Eash) Barnett. Preceded in death by parents; first wife, the former Marian Eicher, and sister LaVerne Smith. Survived by wife, the former Helen Schrock, and these children: Donald M. married to the former Jane Koontz, St. Thomas, Pa.; Mrs. Raymond (Suzanne) Dunmyer, Stoystown, and Janet L. Thomas of Gaithersburg, Md.; also stepdaughter, Mrs. Ray (Patricia Ann) Durst of Newberry, Fla.; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren. Also survived by a brother, Albert W. of Somerset. Employed by Mardis Motors, Somerset. Member of Kantner United Methodist Church, Quemahoning Rod and Gun Club, Somerset County Jeep Club and the National Rifle Association. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown. Viewing will be held from 1 p.m. Sunday until service at 2 p.m. at Kantner U.M. Church, the Rev. Jason McQueen officiating. Interment, Odd Fellows Cemetery, Stoystown.
