  BARR
  
  Arbutus Coughenour Barr, 80, of Charlotte, NC., died Dec. 9, 1997.  Mrs.
  Barr was born Oct. 27, 1917, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to the late Ross Otto
  Coughenour and Annie Smith Coughenour.  She retired from General Electric
  Corporation, Charlotte, after 20 years of service.  She was a docent at the
  Hezikiah Alexander House, member of T.A.F. at First United Methodist Church
  in Charlotte and a member of Dogwood Place Civic Association.  She was
  preceded in death by her husband, Clair E. Barr.  Survivors include
  stepson, Ronald Barr of Lower Burrell, Pa.; two sisters, Violet Lindsay of
  Matthews and Virginia Hiilsmeier of Washington, D.C.; three brothers, Galen
  Coughenour of Buffalo, N.Y., Robert Coughenour of San Antonio, Texas, and
  Ross Coughenour of Lancaster, N.Y.  A funeral service will be private in
  Somerset County at a later date.  McEwen Funeral Service, Charlotte, N.C.,
  is handling arrangements.
