Born April 18, 1914, in Somerset Township, son of George and Olive (Hay) Barron. Preceded in death by parents, twin sister, Hazel Barclay, and brothers: Paul, Merle and Ernest Barron. Survived by wife, Thelma E. (Rhodes) Barron. His passing ended a union of 62 years. Also survived by daughters Sandra Baer, married to Allen Baer, Somerset; and Margie Ann Harrison, married to Charles Harrison, Winchester, Va.; son, Robert L. Barron, married to the former Sandra Pointer, Macon, Ga.; 9 grandchildren: Gail (Baer) Martz, Amy (Baer) Hemminger, Janie (Baer) Hemminger and Nicole Baer, all of Somerset; Chrissy (Harrison) McClung, Summersville, W.Va.; Michael Harrison, Winchester, Va., and Danielle Barron, Justin Barron and Brandi Pennington, all of Macon, Ga.; 6 great-grandchildren: Kayla, Jared and Jansen Hemminger, and Austin Hemminger, all of Somerset; Cordell "Cody" McClung, Summersville, W.Va.; and Garrett Pennington, Macon, Ga. Brother of: Mary Whitehill Winchester; Leanna Miller, Somerset; and Homer Barron, Florida. He was a truck driver for many years and then operated a dairy farm in the Somerset area. He built the truck garage on the present location of McKay Beer Distributors and the red brick house beside it. He was a race car enthusiast (Chevys in particular) and enjoyed hunting and watching football and baseball games. The real pride and joy of his life were his precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Somerset. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, with the Revs. Barry Ritenour and Sherman Berkey officiating.
