A son of the late Austin Jacob Barron and Lillian Good Barron, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Carrie Kepper, and a niece, Loretta L. Crisp. Surviving are his wife, Louise (Reynolds) Barron; a brother, Paul L. Barron of Johnstown; two sisters, Ruth B. Kinsinger of Somerset and Dorothy B. Zubek of Central City; nephews, Richard Kepper of Markleton, Roger, Mark, Henry and David Zubek, all of Central City; nieces, Janet Maher of Hanover, Lillian Robine of Apollo, Dorothy N. Fulton of Blairsville; Anita R. Minter of Roanoke, Judith L. Harne of Columbia S.C., Catherine B. Gregory of Asheville, N.C.; nephew, Joseph H. Bean of Wytheville; and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. A longtime member of Oakland Baptist Church, he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and trustee. Mr. Barron was retired as a school principal from both Roanoke City and Botetourt County School Systems. The road where Troutville Elementary is located is named Barron Road after Harold Barron. He was a member and past president of Williamson Road Lions Club and a volunteer worker for the Science Museum and Center in the Square. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Oakey's North Chapel where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. Rev. Kelly Dampeer officiating.
