Born in Friedens. Ray was a veteran of the Korean Conflict-U.S. Marines. He was a senior vice commander of VFW Porter Post 2511. He was a member of American Legion Miller Post 279. He was formerly a member of the Friedens Lutheran Church. Ray was a retired electrician from Midwest Steel. He was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel Barron. Survived by wife of 39 years, Mary (nee Krepelka) Barron; 3 daughters; Rosalinda (Chris) Dehnart of Chesterton, Ind.; Dawn (Greg) Carr of Crown Point, Ind.; Lori (Gary) Higman of Mesa, Ariz.; 1 son, David Ray (fianc‚ Chrissy Sailor) Barron of Merrillville, Ind.; 5 sisters: Louella (Jay, deceased) Ringer of Portage, Ind.; Peggy (James) Manges of Elyria, Ohio; Donna (James) Pyle of Somerset; Judy (Thomas) Tallentire of Friedens; 2 brothers: Richard (Verna) Barron of Somerset; Emmett (Shirley) Barron of Friedens; 4 grandchildren: Jason and Ashley Fox, Danielle Dehnart, Sarah Carr. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the VFW Porter Post No. 2511, 1290 Wagner Rd., Porter. Cremation at the Burns Funeral Home Crematory will precede the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ray Yoder Barron Memorial Fund through the family. Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th St., Hobart, Ind., in charge of arrangements.
