He was born October 9, 1919, in Hershey, a son of the late Samuel and Lizzie (Gipe) Basehore. He is preceded in death by brothers: Mark, Clarence, and Samuel. He is survived by his widow, Esther (Etter) Basehore and these children: H. Edwin and his wife Evelyn, Brick, N.J.; Dale S. and wife Marjorie, Kent, Minn.; Shirley, wife of Timothy Vought, Garrett; and Karen Basehore, Souderton. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Rozzie and husband Dallas Beltz, Blaine and wife Teresa Basehore, Roxsann Basehore, Ronald and wife Sue Basehore, Melissa and husband Jason Saylor, Timothy Vought, Gretchen Vought and fiancˇe Ted Dix, and Christopher Vought. He is also survived by great-grandchildren; Tyler Beltz, Emily Basehore, Hannah and Saylor, and friend of the family Diane Dutt. He was the former owner of Meyersdale Printing and Publishing Firm where he supervised and wrote publicity for 25 years. He worked as Court Officer in Somerset County Court of Common Pleas. He was a member of the Amity Church of Christ. He was chairman and honorary member of the Pennsylvania Maple Festival, chairman of the Meyersdale Library Fund Drive, past president of Somerset County Development Council, past secretary of Meyersdale Chamber of Commerce, past president and member of the Meyersdale Rotary Club, Rotary Club Citizen of the year, member of the Route 219 Association, member of the Meyersdale Development Association, former director of Somerset Soil and Water Conservation Association, former director of Laurel Highlands Association, honorary member of the Meyersdale Chapter FFA. Honorary member of the Meyersdale Jaycees, former member of Canton Lodge 415 F&AM, Member of Hebron RA Chapter 272, Member of Harrisburg Consistory AASR, Member of the Jaffa Temple Altoona, served 25 years as Secretary of the Somerset County Scottish Rite Club of Harrisburg, Received Coronetter 33rd Honorary Degree of Scottish Rite Mason in 1964, Member of the F&AM Lodge 554 Meyersdale. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service Saturday, at the M. Ray Leckemby Funeral Home. The Rev. Carl P. Mitchell officiating. Interment will be held in the Union Cemetery. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family suggests that contributions be made to the Meyersdale Library and to the UCC Choir and Music Program. He was born October 9, 1919, in Hershey, a son of the late Samuel and Lizzie (Gipe) Basehore. He was preceded in death by brothers: Mark, Clarence, and Samuel. He is survived by his widow, Esther (Etter) Basehore, they would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in April; and these children: H. Edwin and his wife Evelyn of Brick, N.J.; Dale S. and wife Marjorie of Kent, Minn.; Shirley, wife of Timothy Vought, of Garrett; and Karen Basehore of Souderton. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Rozzie and husband Dallas Beltz, Blaine and wife Teresa Basehore, Roxsann Basehore, Ronald and wife Sue Basehore, Melissa and husband Jason Saylor, Timothy Vought, Gretchen Vought and fiancˇ Ted Dix, and Christopher Vought. He is also survived by sister, Anna Mary Albert, Kingston, R.I.; and brother, Paul G. Basehore, Reading.
