Born in Meyersdale, March 25, 1913, he was a son of Frank and Mary (Acciroili) Bassetti, moving to Youngstown in 1927. Long active in Youngstown sports, Bassetti was manager and sponsor of a baseball club there for many years. He scouted for the Pittsburgh Pirates and sponsored many young boxers in Ohio. Operator of the Home Club Caf‚ in Youngstown, he was a veteran of World War II, a director of the Ohio Baseball Congress, and a member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church there. Surviving are his wife, the former Ann Petras, whom he married in 1940; two sons, John and Frank Bassetti, and a daughter, Dorothy Popio, all of Youngstown; two grandchildren; three brothers, Alexander and August Bassetti, both of Liberty Township; and Anthony of Hubbard, Ohio; also two sisters, Mrs. John Roseman and Mrs. Vincent Tavolario, both of Youngstown. A brother, Fred, died in 1967. Funeral service was held in Ohio. Meyersdale Republican, December 14, 1972 [B0624]
