Bauer, 71, of Meyersdale, died Sept. 24, 1998, at home. Born Oct. 16, 1926 in Stoneham, a son of the late Telford and Bertha (Frederick) Bauer. Also preceded in death by a son, William C. and daughter Ramona (Bauer) Tipton; 3 sisters: Letha Coulbertson, Betty Littlefield and Connie Bauer; brother, Dennis Leonard. Survived by his widow, Francis Jerry (Knepp) Bauer; and these children: Mark, Warren; Matthew, Meyersdale and Valerie McKissick of Clarendon; daughter-in-law, Marie Bauer Tipton, Meyersdale. 12 grandchildren, three of whom he raised: Brent Tipton, Meyersdale; Joseph and Jason Tipton, U.S. Navy, San Diego, Calif. 8 great-grandchildren. Also 2 brothers, Telford Bauer, Warren and Calvin Leonard, Russell and an uncle Geo. Frederick of Warren. He was a member of Meyersdale United Methodist Church. A veteran of WWII and Korean Conflict. Member of Clarendon VFW and American Legion. He was retired from PARR with 22 years of service and from National Ford with 22 years of service. He was employed by Fullerton Sound System for 10 years and did the sound for Meyersdale Fourth of July program. Former member of Clarendon Police Dept. Friends will be received at Leckemby Funeral Home, Meyersdale Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where the service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. with Pastor Craig Lyman officiating.
