Baughman, 82, of Meyersdale, died March 30, 1998, at Meyersdale Medical Center. Born Jan. 25, 1916, in Sand Patch, he was a son of the late William and Agnes (Bittner) Baughman. He is survived by his widow, the former Margaret Hampe, and these children: Walter James, Hyndman; Willard "Sock" of Meyersdale; and Sharon Knopsnyder, Somerset. Mr. Baughman is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters: Stella Baughman, Dolores Hutzel and Violet Reiber, all of Meyersdale. Mr. Baughman was a veteran of World War II and was a member of the Charles E. Kelley Post, American Legion. He was a retired PennDOT employee. Friends were received at Leckemby Funeral Home, Meyersdale, where services were held April 2, with Pastor John Nalley officiating. Interment, White Oak Cemetery. New Republic, April 9, 1998 [B0668]
