Baumgardner, Jr., 66, formerly of Somerset County, died Jan. 7, 1978 at the Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, following a lingering illness. He was born in Paint Township, Nov. 7, 1911, son of the late Harvey Baumgardner and Molly (Shull) Baumgardner. He was preceded in death by one brother, George of Berlin and three sisters: Helen Shaulis of Somerset; Edith Walker of Shanksville and Harriet Cobaugh of Friedens. He is survived by one son, William Jr. of Findleyville; one daughter, Mary Sue Hopson of New Eagle; two brothers, Charles of Central City and Edward of Friedens; two sisters, Vera Alexander of Ligonier and Amanda Faye Francis of Alexandria, Va.; and three grandchildren. He was a member of McMurray Lodge F. and A.M., the Cannonsburg Eagles, the Findleyville Moose and Elks and a former employee of PennDOT in Somerset. Friends are being received at the Frye Funeral Home in Monongahela from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday with funeral services being held at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Masonic services will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment, Monongahela Valley Park Cemetery. Daily American, January 9, 1978 [B0690]
