Born April 16, 1886, at Hooversville. He was a son of the late Valentine and Louisa (Weible) Beabes. Also preceded in death by a daughter, a granddaughter, three brothers and a sister. Survived by his wife, the former Emma Pearl Chaplain, and these children, Louis, married to the former Dorothy Jones and Oran J., married to the former Madeline Smay, both of Johnstown; Guy E., married to the former Cora Keafer, Somerset RD 2, Lona, wife of Wilfred Norris, Huntingdon, 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Member of Christ Casebeer Lutheran Church. Mr. Beabes was a former steelworker, lumberman, truck farmer, and church sexton. In early years, he traveled by horse and wagon through the West, Canada and Mexico, working his way across the country and back. Death ends a marriage union of 61 years. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Richard E. Hauger Funeral Home. Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Casebeer Church with the Rev. George Walton officiating. Interment, Casebeer Cemetery. Body will lie in state at the church from 2 p.m. Wednesday until time of service. Daily American, February 22, 1983 [B0697]
