    Oran Jay Beabes, 75, Belmont died May 7, 2001 at Haywood Regional Medical
  Center in Clyde, N.C.  Born Dec. 26, 1925 in Somerset, son of the late Isaac
  and Emma (Chaplain) Beabes.  Survived by wife, former Madeline F. Smay;
  children:  Linda, married to Stan Carrier, Johnstown; Larry, married to the
  former Lien-Hiep Nguyen, Gaithersburg, Md.; Judy, married to Dennis
  Frampton, Waynesville, N.C., and Denise, married to Lawrence Ragan,
  Sterling, Va., and four grandchildren.  Brother of Louis, Johnstown; Guy,
  Somerset, and Lona Norris, Huntingdon.  Member of Moxham Lutheran Church,
  where he was very active; Belmont Volunteer Fire Co.; SOAR, and the Morning
  Walkers at the mall.  Former millwright with U.S. Steel Corp.  Veteran of
  World War II.  Friends received from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11
  a.m. Friday at Moxhama [sic] Lutheran Church, the Rev. Wilbert Boerstler. 
  Interment, Forest Lawn Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial
  contributions may be made to Moxham Lutheran Church.  Arrangements by John
  Henderson Co. Funeral Home, Johnstown.
