    James Robert Beachem Sr., 89, Ashville, N.C., died July 26, 2007, in Ashville. Born
  April 11, 1918, in Wellscreek, Somerset County, a son of Thomas Beachem and Marion Young.
  Preceded in death by parents; wife, Dorothy Marie Brant, who died June 13, 2001; son,
  Roger Beachem; grandson, Robert E. Hall; brothers, Thomas and Ralph Beachem; and sister,
  Janet Berkley; and an infant sib-ling. Survived by children, Carole A. Cabana and husband
  Philip, Springvale, Maine; James R. Beachem Jr. and wife, Midge, Pittsburgh; Richard A.
  Beachem, Fountain Inn, S.C.; Wayne D. Beachem, Atlantic City, N.J.; four grandchildren;
  and four great-grandchildren. Brother of Alberta Lowry and husband, Roy, Friedens; and
  Albert Beachem and wife, Jane, Williamsport. Attended Lutheran Church in North Carolina.
  He is a 1935 graduate of Somerset Township High School, a lieutenant in World War II in
  the U.S. Army Air Corps as a pilot with the 8th Air Force in Europe form 1943-45. He
  worked as a heavy equipment mechanic. Friends received 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the time of
  service, Tuesday at Friedens Lutheran Church, Friedens. The Rev. Edward DeVore
  officiating. Interment Friedens Cemetery. Arrangements by Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home.
