Beachley died Sunday morning in the Community Hospital, Somerset, as the result of a blow on the head which caused a fractured skull and brain hemorrhage. Devon was the only son of Frank and Annie Brant Beachley and was born at Beachdale, April 8, 1917. He attended the public schools in Brothersvalley Township and also Somerset High School. At an early age, he joined the Church of the Brethren at Beachdale. He married Miss Elsie Long, who survives with the following children: Anna Belle, Ronald, Janet and Simon, all at home. He is also survived by his parents, his sister, Mrs. Emily Williams of Cumberland, Md., and a foster sister, Mrs. Hazel Shaulis of Somerset, R.D., and by his aged grandmother, Mrs. Ira Beachley of Beachdale. Many friends called at the Johnson & Son Funeral Home, and the floral tributes were very numerous and beautiful. Tuesday afternoon, the body was removed to the Beachdale Church of the Brethren where services were held at 3 p.m., with Rev. A. J. Replogle officiating. Interment was made in the Beachdale Cemetery.
