Beachy, 72, North Newton, a retired Bethel College Bible and Religion professor and former Mennonite minister, died May 27, 1986, at Bethel Home for Aged. He was born July 9, 1913, in Salisbury, a son of Moses and Lucy Miller Beachy. On Sept. 4, 1942, he married Vera Clouse, at Nappanee, Ind. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Brenda Ray, of Rockford, Ill., and Debra Beachy, of Mexico City, Mexico; three brothers, Noah, of Grantsville, Md.; Milton, of Salisbury; Irvin, of Meyersdale; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Buller and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Yoder, both of Grantsville, Md.; and four grandchildren. He was graduated from Bluffton (Ohio) College in 1943 and in 1949 received his B.D. degree from Hartford (Conn.) Theological Seminary, where he also received his S.T.M. degree in 1952. In 1960, he received his Th.D. degree from the Harvard University Divinity School. Draper-Cannon Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Graveside services and burial were held at 10 a.m. Friday at Hoffnungsau Cemetery, Rural Inman, with the Revs. Renee Sauder and Don Kaufman officiating. Memorial services were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Bethel College Mennonite Church, of which he was a member. The Republic, June 26, 1986 [B0713]
