BEACHY Aug. 25, 1931-Dec. 16, 1999 Betty Kathryn Beachy, 68, of 9127 Lamaze Road, Baltimore, Md., died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999, at Hospice of Baltimore at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center. Born Aug. 25, 1931, in Grantsville, Md., she was the daughter of Pearl (Bittinger) Brenneman, Salisbury, and the late Sherman Brenneman. Mrs. Beachy was a self-employed genealogist and authored eight books on the subject. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church; the National Genealogical Society; and the Garrett County, Md., Allegany County, Md., and Somerset County Historical Societies. She was the valedictorian of the Class of 1949 at Salisbury-Elk Lick High School. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, William V. Beachy; and two daughters: Terri Lynn Smith and husband, Phil, of Hampstead, Md.; and Natalie Anne Purvis, M.D., and husband, Alan, Westminster, Md. She is also survived by two grandchildren: Ashley Anne Smith and Clay Alan Purvis. Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, Dec. 18. Services were conducted at the funeral home that day, with the Rev. Mark Crispell officiating. Interment, Grantsville Cemetery. The New Republic, December 23, 1999 [B0722]
