Wood Beachy, 67, well known Cumberland dentist, died Wednesday morning, Feb. 21, in Memorial Hospital, to which he was admitted the preceding Sunday. He had been in ill health for some time. He was a native of Salisbury, Pa., the son of the late Dr. G. J. and Mrs. Emma (Neff) Beachy. He was graduated from Baltimore Dental College in 1902 and returned to Cumberland where he was associated in the dental profession with his father, who was a native of Garrett County and who practiced dentistry in Somerset County, Pa., and Allegany County, Md., for more than 50 years. After his father's death some years ago Dr. Wood Beachy practiced alone and had a large clientele. He was a member of the Maryland State and Allegany-Garrett Dental Association and of Cumberland Lodge No. 63, B.P.O. Elks. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Walter C. Ort, Cumberland, with whom he had lived in recent years, and one brother, Harry W. Beachy, Glencoe, Pa. An elder brother, Russell, and sister, Miss Lulu Beachy, died many years ago. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at the home of his sister, Mrs. Ort, Rev. Hixon T. Bowersox, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, officiated. Interment in Rose Hill Cemetery.
