Beachy, 76 of Salisbury, died suddenly in a traffic accident on Wednesday, June 6, 2007. He was born February 20, 1931 near Salisbury, the son of the late Noah M. and Elizabeth (Tice) Beachy. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Rachel (Mrs. Alvin Beachy). He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lena E. (Yoder) Beachy; six daughters: Esther Hershberger, and husband Leon, Wooster, OH; Rhoda Curtis, and husband Dale, Grantsville, MD; Orpha Petersheim, and husband Edward, Oakland, MD; Edith Miller, and husband Thomas, McConnelsville, OH; Kathleen, at home; Brenda Yoder, and husband Brian, Grantsville; and one son, Jason, Greencastle; 20 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one brother, Ernest, Salisbury; and five sisters: Grace Beachy (wife of Menno), Salisbury; Alma; Alice Tice (wife of Lewis); Miriam Schrock (wife of Olen); and Ruth Miller (wife of Robert), all of Grantsville. Elmer accepted Christ as his Savior in his youth and was an active member of the Mountain View Mennonite Church, where he taught Sunday School. He sang many years with the Mountain Anthems Chorus, and also served as a chorus board member. Elmer loved to read, study and discuss the Word, especially Bible prophecy, and attended many Bible conferences over the years. He also enjoyed listening to music and, in business, was a man of impeccable integrity. He was a merciful, kind, and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a retired feed dealer with Noah Beachy & Sons, and in recent years enjoyed providing a taxi service for the Amish community. Together with his devotion to the Lord, his family was very close to his heart. He will be sorely missed by many. Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller Street, Grantsville, on Friday, June 8, 2007. Services were conducted at Mountain View Mennonite Church on Saturday, June 9, 2007 with Pastor Jerry Yoder and Pastor Menno J. Yoder officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
