Beachy, 77 of Salisbury, died Thursday, October 4, 2007 in Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD. She was born October 18, 1929, near St. Paul, the daughter of the late Eli L. and Amanda (Hershberger) Yoder. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Elmer N. Beachy, June 6, 2007; two brothers: Henry and Ernest Yoder; and two sisters: Elizabeth Beachy and Mabel Schrock. She is survived by a son, Jason Beachy, Greencastle; six daughters: Esther Hershberger and husband, Leon, Wooster, OH; Rhoda Curtis and husband, Dale, Grantsville, MD; Orpha Petersheim and husband, Edward, Oakland, MD; Edith Miller and husband, Thomas, McConnelsville, OH; Kathleen Beachy, at home; Brenda Yoder and husband, Brian, Grantsville. Also survived by two brothers: Paul H. Yoder and wife, Marie, Grantsville; John E. Yoder and wife, Grace, Salisbury; one sister, Edna Beachy and husband, Claude, Paoli, IN; 20 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Lena lived an exemplary life as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who sacrificially served her family and community faithfully and joyfully. Lena accepted Christ at an early age and was an active member of Mountain View Christian Fellowship. She especially enjoyed serving in the sewing circle and will be sorely missed by her friends there. Lena served as secretary for the Mountain Anthems Chorus for 20 years. She also volunteered at Goodwill Mennonite Home where she helped residents with crafts. Lena enjoyed gardening and spending time helping her family in numerous ways. All who knew Lena will warmly remember her grateful spirit and encouraging smile. Friends were received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville. Services were conducted in the Mountain View Mennonite Church with the Rev. Jerry Yoder officiating. Interment was in the Mountain View Cemetery. Pallbearers were Travis Hershberger, Jon Curtis, Joseph Curtis, Joel Curtis, Jesse Curtis and Christopher Miller. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Christian Aid Ministries.
