Main Street, Grantsville, Md., died Saturday, July 5, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md. Born June 12, 1924, in Grantsville, he was a son of the late Galen and Vena (Yost) Beachy. He was also preceded in death by a son, Bradley, and a brother, Galen Beachy, Jr. Mr. Beachy was a member of the Maple Grove Church of the Brethren. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Grantsville Post 214 of the American Legion and a lifetime member of Walker-Harris Post of the VFW, Salisbury. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jane (Wilt) Beachy; three sons: Gerald and Kevin Beachy, both of Grantsville; and Timothy Beachy, Springs; three daughters: Kathy Riley, Cresaptown, Md.; Rebecca Hresko, Eldersburg, Md.; and Tamara Beachy, Grantsville; two sisters: Kay Speicher, Grantsville; and Helen Keim Somerset; and nine grandchildren. Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, July 6, where services were conducted July 7, with the Rev. Terrell Mallow officiating. Interment, Grantsville Cemetery.
