Beachy, well-known resident of Grantsville, Md., died about 5:30 o'clock Saturday morning after an illness of several months. He was born near Gortner, Md., Oct. 19, 1896, and was aged forty-six years, six months. He was a son of the late Daniel S. and Amanda Miller Beachy and was one of eleven children. Some years ago he moved to this section where he has since engaged in farming. For several months, after the death of the late Noah Brenneman, he acted as superintendent of the former Amish Children's Home, which has since been closed. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Barbara Beachy, a daughter, Rose Elizabeth Beachy, a son, Alva Beachy, Grantsville, four sisters, Mrs. Lucy Smoker, Mrs. Tilly Miller, Mrs. Salome Mafcinger, Lancaster, Pa., and Mrs. Elizabeth Miller, Washington, D.C., and five brothers, Norman Beachy, St. Paul, Joel D. Beachy, Springs, Eli Beachy, Oakland, Alvin Beachy, Greenwood, Del., and Simon Beachy, Salisbury, Pa. Funeral services were held from the Maple Glen church Tuesday afternoon. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery under the direction of William Winterberg, local mortician. Meyersdale Republican, April 23, 1942
