BEACHY Vernon Clay Beachy, 82, of 175 Main Street, died Sunday, June 17, 1990, at his Grantsville, MD residence. Born September 14, 1907, he was the son of the late Joel A. and Etta (Livengood) Beachy. He was preceded in death by his wife Gertrude (Wilburn) Beachy in 1972. Also preceding him in death were two brothers and one sister. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ; past president of Woodmen of the World, Camp 41; member of Fraternal Order of Police; Cumberland Moose Lodge and a retired member of the Grantsville Volunteer Fire Company. He was employed for 28 years as a maintenance welder for the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company. Survivors include his widow Alverda (Beitzel) Beachy; seven sons, William V. Beachy, Baltimore, MD; Carl R. Beachy, Swanton, MD; Eugene D. Beachy, Beltsville, MD; Ronald L. Beachy, Upper Marlboro, MD; Marvin F. Beachy, Frederick, MD; Harold G. and Richard A. Beachy, both of Grantsville, MD; three daughters, Mary Geouge, Frederick, MD; Janet Carroll, Seabrook, MD and Kathleen McGregor, Glen Burnie, MD; three brothers, Irvin Beachy, Pittsburgh; Roy Beachy, Berlin; and John Beachy, Grantsville, MD; three sisters, June Beckett, Inverness, Fla.; Ruby Bittinger, Akron, Ohio and Evelyn Hewitt, Grantsville, MD; 25 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home in Grantsville where services were conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Connelly Chaney and Rev. Joseph Lewis officiating.
