Beachy, 88, died Monday, July 20, 1987, at the Forbes Metropolitan Health Center, Wilkinsburg, after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, Goldie. Walter was the son of Joel A. and Etta A. Beachy, who lived on the Beachy Family farm on Route 40. His survivors include a daughter, Betty Rae Bean and a son, Walter A., Jr., both of Pittsburgh; four brothers, Irvin J. of Pittsburgh, Roy, of Berlin, and Vernon and John, of Grantsville, Md.; and three sisters, Ruby Bittinger, of Akron, Ohio; June Beckett, of Inverness, Florida, and Evelyn Hewitt, of Grantsville, Md.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was vice-president of Beachy Motor Company, Lincoln-Mercury dealers, being in the business for over 40 years in Wilkinsburg. He was a member of the Beulah Presbyterian Church in Churchill; Beta Duquesne Masonic Lodge No. 546; Gateway Royal Arch Chapter No. 285; Knight Templars, Lincoln Commandery No. 91 and Shrine-Syria Temple. Friends were received at T.D. Turner Funeral Home. Services were held at Beulah Presbyterian Church on July 23. Burial was in William Penn Memorial Cemetery. The Republic, August 20, 1987 [B0770]
