Beal, aged 64, of Victory Hill, Pa., died Saturday morning, September 6th at 2:34 o'clock in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, where he had been admitted two weeks previously for treatment of a spinal condition. He had been bedfast for 17 days and his condition showed progressive improvement until Friday night just before midnight, when he suffered a relapse and succumbed to embolism a few hours later. Mr. Beal was born in Meyersdale on August 18, 1883, and had lived in both Monongahela and Donora before moving to Victory Hill. He had been employed as a carpenter at the zinc mill of the American Steel and Wire Company at Donora, for nearly 25 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Donora, serving as a deacon for many years. He was an active member of the Donora Junior Order of American Mechanics, holding the office of secretary-treasurer for 15 years. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude A. Beal; three sons, Homer and Roy at home, and Amos Beal of Monessen; two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Yohe of Victory Hill and Mrs. Ida Fawcett of New Eagle, Pa.; a sister, Mrs. Mary B. Jones of Route 1, Salisbury, and a brother, Ira Beal of Windber. Funeral services were conducted at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Yohe, at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 10, with Rev. Frederick L. Will of Donora officiating, assisted by Rev. Paul H. Andree, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene of Monongahela. Interment in the Monongahela Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, September 18, 1947
