Beal, 75, Spartansburg, died unexpectedly of an acute heart attack Oct. 3. A son of Charles and Nancy Beal, he was born in Salisbury, May 9, 1891. He was previously married to the former Mima Harding, who preceded him in death. A veteran of World War I, he served with the 80th Division in France. He owned and operated a hardware store in Spartansburg until his retirement July 1, 1966, when he sold his business. He is survived by his wife, the former Fern Morris, and a daughter, Carolyn, a student at Westminster College, New Wilmington, and two sisters: Mrs. Marshall (Lula) Rigal and Mrs. C. W. (Marion) Arthurs, Oil City. Two brothers preceded him in death this summer: Charles Oscar Beal, 86, died in Ebensburg Manor Nursing Home, Aug. 13, and H. Emerson, age 68, died July 10 in Corry Memorial Hospital. The latter, who had been in failing health for the past five years died of a heart attack and embolism.
