All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ JONATHAN BEAL Jonathan (Jack) Beal of Connellsville, a former resident of Meyersdale, died at noon Easter Sunday at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lowery of 122 South Fourth Street, Connellsville. Mr. Beal was aged 91 years and several months at the time of his death. He was born February 18, 1850 and lived in the Meyersdale community practically all of his life. For many years he was employed by the Meyersdale Planing Mill when this industry was being operated by J. S. Graves and for several years after W. H. Deeter assumed management of the mill. He also worked in coal mines and on road construction jobs before retiring several years ago. Mr. Beal is survived by the following children: Mrs. Sadie Williams of McKeesport; Mrs. John Holshu of Pitcairn; Roy Beal of New Castle; Elwood Beal of San Diego, California; Mrs. Edith Beachley, McKeesport; Harry Beal of Barberton, Ohio; Mrs. Frank Lowery of Connellsville, and Charles Beal of McKeesport. He was a brother of Mrs. Charles Porter of Eckhart, Md., and Mrs. Anna Brice of Connellsville. Brief funeral services were held at the Lowery home in Connellsville at 10 Tuesday morning. The body lay in state in Amity Evangelical and Reformed Church in Meyersdale from noon until 2 Tuesday afternoon. Services were conducted in the church at 2 by the Rev. Nelson Brown, pastor, and the Rev. Dr. B. A. Black, of Meyersdale. Interment was in the Union Cemetery under the direction of H. R. Konhaus, Meyersdale mortician. Meyersdale Republican, April 17, 1941
