She was born May 4, 1920, in Stoystown, to Royal and Jeanette Shaulis Rhoads. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard S. Beale, who died on March15, 1999; and her parents. She is survived by two daughters, Jeanetta Pyle and her husband, James, of Granville, Ohio, and Gladys Weinstock of Conroe; one son, Howard Smith Beale III and his wife, Nancy, of Lubbock, Texas; one brother, Clarence Rhoads of Stoystown; one sister, Kathryn Miller of Somerset; grandchildren, Amy Weinstock Murphy and her husband, Nicholas, of Anchorage, Alaska, Matthew Weinstock of Conroe, Leigh Ann Weinstock of Conroe, Rachel Beale of Lubbock; one step granddaughter, Sara English of Lubbock; one step-great-granddaughter, Sidney English of Lubbock; and eight nieces and nephews. She had lived in Marietta from 1957 to 2001, and had taught elementary school for Marietta City Schools from 1957 to 1983. She was a past member of Horner's Lutheran Church in Stoystown. Since 1957 she was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Marietta. She graduated with a degree in elementary education from Lock Haven College in 1942. She and her husband, Howard, traveled extensively in the United States and around the world. Services were held at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Marietta. The family greeted friends immediately after the service where a reception and luncheon were held. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 401 Scammel St., Marietta, Ohio. 45750. The Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
