  VELMA I. BEALS
  
    Mrs. Velma I. Beals, 86, of Meyersdale RD 1, died Jan. 13, 1979 in
  Meyersdale Community Hospital.
    Born in Summit Township, she was a daughter of the late Solomon and
  Belinda (Handwerk) Gnagey.  She was preceded in death by her husband, John
  H. Beals.
    Surviving are two sons, Norval E. Beals, Baltimore, Md.; and Ward E.
  Beals, Meyersdale RD 1; two daughters, Mrs. Leora Rueblinger, Wheaton, and
  Mrs. Mabel Robertson, Meyersdale; one brother, Norval A. Gnagey, Meyersdale
  RD 3; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Shumac, Garrett RD 1; and Mrs. Pearl
  Zarefoss, Somerset, 13 grandchildren, one deceased and 11
  great-grandchildren.
    She was a member of Summit Mills Church of the Brethren and was a former
  schoolteacher in Summit Township.
    Friends were received in the Thomas Funeral Home, Salisbury where
  services were conducted by Rev. William F. Phennicie.  Interment, St. Paul
  Cemetery.
    Pallbearers were grandsons.
