Beamer, 76, Broad St., Bedford, died April 18, 2000 in UPMC Lee Regional Hospital, Johnstown. He was born July 9, 1923 in Middletown, Ind. A son of the late Meshach F. and Mary (Hyde) Beamer on Sept. 19, 1949. (sic) Preceded in death by brother, Frank M. Beamer, and sisters, Elizabeth Beamer, Ann Beamer and Roberta Beamer. He married the former Elizabeth Shipley who survives along with the following children: Mary Kathryn Bryan, Atlanta, Ga.; H. John Beamer, Bedford; Elizabeth Ann, wife of Thomas P. Warner, Lancaster, and Martha Lee Beamer of Pittsburgh. Eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A brother James I. Beamer of State College. Member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Bedford, where he formerly served on the church council. He was a former board member of the former Memorial Hospital of Bedford County. He was a long-time member of the Bedford Rotary Club, where he was active in various activities. Past president of the Board of Directors of A.L.S.M. of the Lutheran Church. Mr. Beamer owned and operated an auto dealership in Meyersdale before relocating to Bedford where he operated the H. J. Beamer Ford Sales from 1976 until his retirement in 1990. Before relocating to Bedford he was an active member of the Meyersdale Community, where he was a charter member of the B.P.O.E. Post 1951 of Meyersdale, where he served as the first exalted ruler. Member of the F. & A.M. Lodge of Meyersdale, the Consistory, Valley of Harrisburg, Jaffa Temple AAONMS, Altoona, and the Bedford County Shrine. While in Meyersdale he served formerly on the board of the Meyersdale Community Hospital, the Meyersdale School Board and was past president of the Pa. Maple Festival. He served on the Somerset County Development Council. He had served during World War II in the U.S. Navy aboard the Carriers USS Yorketown which was sunk at the Battle of the Midway and then the USS Hornet which was sunk, both while he was serving on them. He attended St. Vincent's College in Latrobe. Friends may be received at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, 214 S. Juliana St., Bedford from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Colvin Room of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Bedford, with the Rev. Raymond Short officiating. Viewing one hour prior to service. Bedford Masonic Lodge F. & A. M. 320 will conduct services at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. If friends so desire, contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church, 106 W. Penn St., Bedford , Pa., 15522 or to the A.I.S. M., 915 Hickory St., Hollidaysburg, Pa, 16648 in memory of Mr. Beamer. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
