Born June 2, 1905, in Rockwood, a son of Walter Charles and Laura Emma (Barkman) Beck. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Oscar Beck; sisters, Leora and Gladys Beck; great-grandson, Joshua Peter Leon and son-in-law, Edward Melvin Chellman. Survived by wife, the former Alda Mae Shockey to whom he was married 70 years; children: Mrs. Ruth Chellman, North Huntingdon, Mrs. C. Ben (Marie) Waltermire, Rockwood, Clarence Beck, married to the former Doris Horner, Tionesta, Ernest Beck Jr., married to the former Sharon MacCartee, Jessup, Md., Mrs. Merle (Hazel) Romesberg Jr., Rockwood, Mrs. Michael (Irene) Younkin, Pittsburgh; 16 grandchildren: Diane, Kevin, Janeen, Craig, Melanie, Joyce, Janice, Ernest III, Bryan, Christine, Madeline, Laura, Merle, Sarah, Nathan and Jarrod; 16 great-grandchildren: Jessica, Jonathon, Elizabeth, Benjamin, Julia, Kyle, Kathleen, Matthew, Garrett, Seth, Ethan, Daniel, Nicole, Abigail, Clara and Gabriella; sisters, Mrs. Frank (Zola) Klink, Greenfield, Ind. and Mrs. Violet Johnson, Rockwood. He was a life long self-employed Milford Township farmer. Earlier in life he enjoyed raising and showing award winning turkeys. He was also a member of Messiah Lutheran Church where he had once been on the church council. He also enjoyed gardening, reading his Bible and especially enjoyed visiting with his friends and family. Friends received 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset. Service will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday at Messiah Lutheran Church, New Centerville. The Rev. William E.
