All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ----------------------------------------------- BECKER, Eugene Warren 02/02/2006 The New Republic September 17, 1913 January 27, 2006 Eugene Warren Becker, 92, a resident of Fahrney-Keedy Home in Boonsboro, Md., and formerly of Ringgold Pike, Hagerstown, Md., died Friday, January 27, 2006, at the Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown. Born September 17, 1913, in Brothersvalley Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late George and Lillian B. (Martin) Becker. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years Marion Lucille Becker in 1999. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. A sister Ruth H. Walker of Somerset, died in December 2005. He was also preceded in death by two other sisters: Gaza B. Rusk of Philadelphia; and Myrtle Becker who passed away during childhood; and two brothers: Alvin Becker of Jacksonville, Fla.; and E. Earl Becker of Meyersdale. He is survived by two sons: David E. Becker and wife Marcie of Hagerstown; Gayle E. Becker of Mercersburg; two granddaughters: Wendi Jones of Hagerstown; Heather Schrantz of New Holland; and four great-grandchildren: Elisha Mose, Toni Mose, Andrew Schrantz and Brendon Schrantz. He was employed by the Fairchild Aircraft of Hagerstown for 36 years, retiring in 1978. He moved to Hagerstown during WWII following employment at an aircraft factory in Baltimore, Md. In his earlier years he was co-owner of a small upholsters business called Becker & Hostetler in Meyersdale. He was a member of the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Leitersburg, Md. There was no viewing. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2006, at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Leitersburg with Pastor Terry W. Culler officiating. Burial will follow the memorial service and will be in the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Eugene's name to the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church at 21513 Leitersburg-Smithsburg Rd., Hagerstown, MD 21742. Arrangements were made by the J.L. Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg, Md.
