Beckner, Jr., 49, Somerset, died July 16, 1977, in Allentown Sacred Heart Hospital Center. He was born November 11, 1927, in Ralphton, son of Rebecca (Butler) Beckner, Boswell RD 2, and the late Asa R. Beckner. He was preceded in death by a brother Richard. He is survived by his widow, the former Wilma Fay Barkley, and these children: Mrs. David (Sharon) Newswanger, Somerset; Karen, Robert, William, and Rex, all at home. He was a brother of John Lewis, Berlin RD 1; Gary, Boswell RD 1; Blaine, Westmont; Jack, Boswell RD 2; Mrs. John (Jo Ann) McDaniel, Stoystown; and a half-brother, Ray King, Philadelphia. He was a member of the Sipesville Church of the Brethren, Somerset Volunteer Fire Department and Teamsters Local No. 30. He was a veteran of World War II and a driver for the Wilson Freight Company. Friends will be received after 2 p.m. Monday at the Richard E. Hauger Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Walter Startzel, and the Rev. Blair C. Harshbarger, officiating. Interment, Bakersville Cemetery. Somerset Firemen Memorial Services will be held in the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Monday. Daily American , JULY 18, 1977 [B0914]
