Born March 23, 1923 in Youngstown, Westmoreland County, Pa., the son of Carl Duncan and Elsie Victoria (Rock) Beggs. Preceded in death by father and mother, Elsie Victoria Beggs-Webreck, step-father Robert D. Webreck, first wife Dorothy (Hoover) Beggs, and daughter Carol Ann Deem, who died Oct. 23, 2000. Survived by wife, the former Patricia B. Keim, to whom he was married 37 years; daughter, Mrs. James J. (Laura) Shubert of Pittsburgh; son-in-law, Dale W. Deem of Somerset; and three grandchildren, Adam Deem, Nicholas and Jessie Shubert. Brother of Mrs. Floyd J. (Romayne) DePhillips of Somerset, James B. Beggs of Somerset, and Calvin C. Beggs of Somerset. Attended St. Paul's United Church of Christ. A World War II veteran of the U.S. Army First Special Forces. Member of VFW Post #554. Owner of the former Beggs Jewelry Store of Somerset from 1944-88. No Viewing or visitation. Memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, with the Rev. Glenn E. Sadler officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
