He was born April 13, 1926, at Bittinger, Md., son of the late Henry and Cynthia (Snyder) Beitzel. He was a self-employed painter and a coal miner 10 years prior to being a painter. Member of the Bethesda Church of the Brethren. He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice (Durst) Beitzel; two sons: Ellis B. Beitzel, Stafford, Va.; and Jack R. Beitzel, Salisbury; three daughters: Faye R. Keller, Middletown, Md.; Patricia A. Deal, Philadelphia, Tenn., and Marla J. Hetrick, Salisbury; one brother, William Beitzel, Grantsville, Md.; four sisters: Violet Higgins, Frostburg, Md.; Trellis Rassier, New Kingston, N.Y.; Alice Bittinger, Akron, Ohio, and Holly Fazenbaker, Westernport, Md.; also 11 grandsons and four granddaughter. Preceded in death by one son, James Allen Beitzel; three brothers and four sisters. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Salisbury, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Springs Mennonite Church, with Rev. Steve Heatwole officiating. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Interment, Springs Cemetery.
