  BENCE
  
    Edward H. Bence, 66, of Friedens RD 2, died Sept. 12, 1979, at Somerset
  Community Hospital.  Born March 3, 1913, in Johnstown.  Son of James and
  Katherine (Miller) Bence.  Preceded in death by parents, three sisters and
  one brother.  Survived by widow the former Leona Shippey whom he married
  Sept. 18, 1937, and these children: James, Sandy Lake, Pa.,; Mrs. Robert
  (Barbera) Kerr, Boliver, Pa.; Mrs. Thomas (Sue Keating, Dearborn Heights,
  Mich.; Robert, Stoystown, RD 2; 11 grandchildren, brother of Mrs. Arthur
  (Olive) Shippey, Boswell; Ivan, Ephrata, Gene, Enfield, Conn.; Ray,
  Stoneboro, Pa., William, Sandy Lakes, Blanche Pfeil, Akron Ohio; and James,
  Boswell.  Retired machine operator in the Wheel Plant of Bethlehem Steel
  Johnstown.  Former coal miner.  Friends were received Thursday evening and
  will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Deaner Funeral
  Home, Stoystown, where services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday.  Rev.
  Donald E. Chamberlain.  Interment, Jenner Crossroad Cemetery.
