  James W. Bence, 55, Boswell RD 1, died July 24, 1985, at Lee Hospital. 
  Born June 11, 1930, in Johnstown, a son of James A. and Catherine (Miller )
  Bence.  Preceded in death by parents; three sisters, Mildred Swanson, Ada
  and Lucille; two brothers, Donald and Edwin.  Survived by these sisters and
  brothers: Olive, wife of Arthur Shippey, Boswell; Ivan, married to former
  Eva Dibler, Leola RD 1; Gene, Sr., married to former Anita Soucy, Enfield,
  Conn.; Ray, married to former Ethel Hart, Stoneboro; William, married to
  former Sue Segaty, Sandy Lake; Blanche, wife of John Pfiel, Akron, Ohio;
  also, sister-in-law, Leona Bence, Friedens RD 2; brother-in-law, the Rev.
  Leonard Swanson, Sheldon, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.  A 1951
  graduate of former JBJ Joint Schools; member of USWA, Local 2635; retired
  employee of Bethlehem Steel Corp., Johnstown works, and Marine Corps
  veteran of Korean conflict.  Friends received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday
  at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell, where service will be held
  at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Robert J. Horner.  Interment, Helixville
  Cemetery, Bedford County.
