  BENDER
  
  H.G. "Hike" Bender, 80, of Meyersdale, died July 20, 1987, Goodwill
  Mennonite Home, Grantsville, Md.  He was born June 30, 1907, in Springs,
  Pa., a son of the late Fred W. and Melinda (Miller) Bender.  He was
  preceded in death by his wife, Louise Johnston, February 1986.  Survived by
  two children: Dr. Thomas R., Arlington, Va.; and Mrs. Kathryn B. Lindeman of
  Glendale, Md.; one grandchild, Thomas R. Jr.; and a sister, Mrs. Lucretia
  Maust, Salisbury.  He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church.  He was the
  owner of the H. G. Bender Company for 40 years.  Member and past president
  of Meyersdale Rotary Club; vice president and director of Citizen's
  National Bank; former Somerset County Commissioner; and charter member of
  Laurel Falls Association.  Friends received in Leckemby Funeral Home,
  Meyersdale, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday where services
  will be Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Lloyd Wilson officiating. 
  Interment, Salisbury Cemetery.  Family suggests expressions of sympathy be
  made to the Zion Lutheran Church or the Goodwill Mennonite Home.
