YODER BENDER Grantsville, Maryland Mrs. Mary E. Yoder Bender, wife of the late Enoch Bender, died at 7:30 o'clock Tuesday morning, April 30, at the home of her son, Milton Bender, two miles north of Grantsville on the Springs Road. She had not been ill long. Mrs. Bender suffered a stroke of paralysis about 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon, while visiting with her family, and never regained consciousness. Her hearing had been impaired since girlhood and for several years she had been quite deaf, but otherwise her health had been fairly good for one of such advanced years. Mrs. Bender was born January 28, 1858, at Summit Mills, a daughter of Eli and Elizabeth Brenneman Yoder, natives of Somerset County, who later moved to Norfolk, Va. On November 7, 1880, she married Enoch Bender. He died many years ago and for the past nineteen years she had made her home with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Bender, near Grantsville. Having lived in this section practically all of her life, she was well known and had a wide circle of friends. She had been a faithful and devoted member of the Conservative Amish Mennonite Church since early childhood. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Louis Eichorn, Clarence, N.Y.; Mrs. Ezra Peachy, Belleville, Pa.; Mrs. Asa Schrock, Bittinger; Mrs. Shem Peachy, Springs; and two sons, Norman Bender, Springs, and Milton Bender, Grantsville. Two brothers, Noah E. Yoder and Milton E. Yoder, Norfolk, Va., and thirty-seven grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, May 2, at 2 o'clock from the Maple Glenn Church. Mrs. Eichorn came Monday to be present at her mother's bedside. The other members of the immediate family were present when their mother was stricken and remained here. The Messrs. Yoder were expected to be here to attend the funeral services.
