Bender, aged 37, son of the late Jacob J. and Carrie Fogle Bender, died in Chicago, Monday night, March 20, in the Cook County Hospital. He was born in Grantsville, Md., Aug. 29, 1906, and before leaving here was employed in his father's store. He was employed in Chicago the last seven years. He had a pleasing personality and cheerful disposition, which won him many friends. His death was a shock to this community. Surviving relatives are three brothers and a sister, namely: Allen J. Bender, Cumberland; Mrs. Edna Bender Keller and Harry J. Bender, Grantsville; Clyde F. Bender, Silver Spring, Md. He was a member of the Grantsville Methodist Church. Funeral services were conducted at the Winterberg Funeral Home last Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Rev. O. W. Arrington, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiated. The pallbearers were: M. B. Pressman, McHenry, Md.; Harvey Stanton, Aurora, W.Va.; Frank Ruffo, Frostburg; Ralph Glotfelty, Harry C. Edwards and Sylvan Durst, Grantsville. Among those who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Allen Bender, Silver Spring; Miss Ruth Bender, Cumberland; Clyde F. Bender, Wilkinsburg, Pa.; Fred W. Bender and daughters, Miss Rhoda Bender and Mrs. Lucretia Maust, Springs, Pa.; Frank Beachy, Swissvale, Pa.; Mr. and Mrs. Daniel L. D'Amico, Cumberland, and Mrs. Marshall B. Pressman, McHenry.
